The main concept idea for this renovation project was to offer different levels of habitude and privacy by locating the bar and service area in the center of the coffeeshop and dividing the rest of the open space into zones. A wider area along the shop’s facade is designed to host larger groups of people. A sitting area with a couch and a big table in the southwest corner of the space as well as a round table next to the entrance create a welcoming, homelike atmosphere. In a more private zone in the back of the space, a structure with tables and chairs was designed as a projection of a jagged line. Two main elements related to the origins and story telling of coffee take up a dominant place in the space. Right on top of the countertop area and inspired by continuous tracks, a shelf hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the space was designed to add a sense of movement and host objects related to coffee. A pixelized wooden atlas on the wall highlight the areas and countries that coffee is produced. Daylight coming in from the skylight in the exposed roof structure and falling onto the original brick walls add up to the space simplicity and authenticity.
